WEDNESDAYS | 6:30-8:30PM, Oct 2 - 23, 2019 (4 weeks)
AGES: ADULTS & YOUTH
INSTRUCTOR: JEFF WILSON
Many artists are inspired by the beautiful mountains, coastlines and forests in BC. However, it can be a challenge to capture them. Acrylic paints provides an accessible medium with brilliant visual impact to successfully capture these subjects. This course is intended for anyone who would like to have a go at these subjects for the first time, or revisit the subject with a fresh eye. The course will examine the characteristics of acrylic paints as a medium, basic colour theory, colour mixing, composition layering and brushwork. It is a hands-on course, combining demonstration and guided hands-on painting.
The workshop is designed with a four session format:
Session 1 and 2: Students will work on a 20”x16” painting from a mountain, coastal or forest landscape composition, supplied by the instructor.
Session 3 and 4: Students will work on a 20”x16” painting from a second mountain, coastal or forest landscape composition, chosen by the instructor.
In each class the instructor will lead the session by periodic demonstration, followed by personal instruction to each student. By the end of the course, it is hoped that students have practiced brush handling, paint mixing, layering and palette choice to approach BC’s diverse landscapes with greater confidence.
